Philips company has designed a concept of the beehive. Not intended for mass production or for selling as their product. It is more an approach how to encourage debate on a number of questions about the possible future.

The concept allows anyone to become a beekeeper with beehives inside a house or apartment. The urban beehive consists of two parts, tinted glass shell with artificial honeycomb and outer shell with flower pots and entrance to the hive.

The honey is collected in the lower conical part of the stick. In order to retrieve it,the hive can be opened.A smoke generator is intended to ensure that the bees are calm.

Actually, in this »toy« sincere lover of beekeeping and bees would never have placed this extraordinary insect. But as a curiosity and an occasion for reflection on the value and importance of bees for the survival of our civilization makes sense.
