BeeTIME is a beekeeping publication with one writer behind it. Aleš, from Slovenia, in the apiary since 1999. Certified organic since 2023 (Bureau Veritas Slovenia), working with LR + AŽ hives and Carniolan bees. A hobby operation, not a commercial one, and the writing reflects that scale.
The site covers what a practicing hobbyist actually reads about. Varroa. Seasonal work. Equipment that earns its place and equipment that doesn’t. Plants worth putting in the ground. The small-scale economics of honey, which most beekeeping writing treats as either a hobby that pays for itself or a business, and it’s almost always neither.
Most English-language beekeeping content is written from American conditions for American readers. BeeTIME isn’t. Central European climate, subspecies, and regulation change some of the practical answers, and articles say when that’s the case.
The work is a synthesis of personal experience, research papers, forum threads, other practitioners’ writing, and 26 years in one apiary.
The Wednesday digest rounds up the week’s beekeeping news, research, practice debates, and policy worth paying attention to. Subscribe here.
