This policy describes how personal data is handled on beetime.eu, in line with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR) and applicable EU law.
1. Who runs this site
BeeTIME is an independent beekeeping publication. For any questions about this policy or the handling of your personal data, contact:
2. What data is collected
Newsletter subscription. If you subscribe to the Wednesday digest, your email address is collected and stored for the purpose of sending you the newsletter. That is the only required data.
Contact emails. If you email [email protected], your email address and the content of your message are retained so the conversation can continue.
Technical logs. Standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited) are kept briefly for security and site operation. These are not used for profiling or analytics.
No special categories of personal data (Article 9 GDPR) are collected. This site is not intended for anyone under 16, and data from minors is not knowingly processed.
3. Legal basis for processing
- Newsletter subscription: your consent, under Article 6(1)(a) GDPR. You can withdraw consent at any time by unsubscribing.
- Replies to email contact: legitimate interest in replying, under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR.
- Technical logs: legitimate interest in operating a secure website, under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR.
4. Who receives your data
Your email address for the newsletter is processed by the newsletter delivery provider (Beehiiv, operating in the United States under GDPR-appropriate safeguards). No other third parties receive your personal data at this time.
If this changes (for example, if analytics or advertising services are added later), this page will be updated before those services go live.
5. Cookies
At present, beetime.eu uses only the cookies technically required for site operation and for remembering your cookie consent choice. No analytics or advertising cookies are active.
If analytics or affiliate tracking are added later (for example, to qualify for a display advertising network or to disclose affiliate relationships properly), the cookie banner and this policy will be updated, and you will be asked for consent before any non-essential cookies are set.
6. How long data is kept
- Newsletter subscribers: until you unsubscribe.
- Email correspondence: as long as the conversation or related follow-up requires, then deleted.
- Technical logs: a few weeks, then rotated out.
7. Your rights
Under GDPR Articles 15 to 22, you have the right to:
- request a copy of the personal data held about you
- correct inaccurate data
- request deletion of your data
- restrict how your data is processed
- receive your data in a portable format
- object to processing
- withdraw consent at any time
To exercise any of these, email [email protected]. Requests are answered within 30 days.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority. In Slovenia this is the Information Commissioner (ip-rs.si).
8. Security
Personal data is protected with standard technical and organisational measures appropriate to the scale of this site: access controls, encrypted transmission (HTTPS), and limited data collection in the first place.
No system is fully secure. If a breach affects your data, you will be notified in line with GDPR Article 34 requirements.
9. Changes to this policy
This policy is updated when processing activities change, when new services are added (analytics, advertising, affiliate programs), or when required by law. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the current version.
10. Contact
Questions, requests, complaints: [email protected]
